Slow Response…..Stim Day 7

IVF #2 Update

I hate to be negative Nancy but when does it get easy?  I went in this morning for blood work and ultrasound and she told me that the biggest follies are only 8mm and 9mm.  I have a feeling I am looking at least 12 days of stims again.  As I said before at least I am not paying as much as last time.  I just ordered more meds last night and they should arrive tomorrow.  I have been dealing with Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. They are awesome.  They will even send a courier to you if you need it that day.  I am not sure when next blood work and ultrasound will be.  The nurse should be calling this weekend to let me know what the next steps are.  Just praying they don’t cancel.  I am feeling pretty bummed out about all of this.  Speaking of moods I bought this for Doug when I went to the Cape.  Isn’t this the truth? 🙂

Weekend

On a more positive note…..the hubby and I are going to Boston tomorrow for a Barenaked Ladies Concert.  They were the first concert we had ever been to and probably one of the first few dates we went on!  I am really excited to have a day away.  The plan is to head into Boston in the afternoon and grab dinner there with another couple.  BNL are a super fun band even if you don’t listen to their music they just get the crowd going and their music is upbeat and puts a smile on your face.

    • Thanks! I try and make the best of things but everyday is like a roller coaster ride during IVF. If anything, I have learned a lot from all of this.

  1. Hi friend! The title here really caught my eye. “Slow response” seems to be a good way to describe me with these drugs. Or possibly, no response. I’ve been upped from 225 to 300 to 375 IU of gonal-F since Friday. Today the IVF nurse said I’m not really responding at all. I’m freaked out. Has your doctor ever told you why some people are slow to respond to the drugs? I’m waiting on pins and needles to hear from my RE tomorrow. Thanks. 🙂

    • My first IVF I started at 150 of Gonal-f and ended up at 300. I think it depends on what protocol you are on, what your FSH and ovarian reserve look like, if you are over-suppressed or just have lazy ovaries that respond slowly. I have a good amount of follicles this time (25ish) but they just grow so slowly. Have you had your first ultrasound? What day are you on of stims? Wish you the best of luck!

  2. I have only had my baseline ultrasound. Today is day 6 on stims, and they told me to come in tomorrow for my 3rd blood draw and 1st ultrasound since starting the stims.
To be honest I have no idea what my FSH levels are, or ovarian reserve. The only blood work I know they tested was my AMH level, which was fairly low (1.13). I would have to assume that FSH, etc is something they’d check before even starting this protocol, but I just don’t know. I’m hoping to talk to my doctor today and find out. Thanks for the input! Hopefully I’m just slow to respond and don’t have any other major issues to contend with.
